Having returned from a good vacation away from Packers blogging, we are pleased to hear amusing good news. According to Hall of Fame safety LeRoy Butler on Fox Sports Wisconsin, Butler wants to get beyond post-game interviews giving Packers sports analysis about the seasonal games in his weekly series (e.g. Five Questions) into a coaching job in the NFL. In another story on the site, Butler said the "Packers expected too much from [quarterback] Rodgers."
After losing Packers Director of Football Operations Reggie McKenzie to be general manager at the Oakland Raiders and Offensive Coordinator Joe Philbin to be head coach at the Miami Dolphins (with former coach Sherman joining him), we recommend that LeRoy Butler approach the Green Bay Packers for an open defensive coaching position. Considering the defensive failures in the NFL 2012 season in the secondary, we can see a good coaching fit for the experienced All-Pro and Hall of Fame Packers safety into staying Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers staff. At least, the Packers should consider that option to start making personnel and coaching improvements for the 2012 NFL season.
Meanwhile, the Packers Press echoed our brief post-Giants playoff loss remarks calling the game to be no surprise, shocking the New York audience. Our Packers blogger interview stated that management, coaching, and star players are to blame for the team's complete breakdown in their loss to the Giants ending their drive (at home) to a second Super Bowl.
Next, the Packers press published the predictable "who is to blame" sports news stories for the Giants loss in their papers and available on the internet sites. Packers insider writer Bob McGinn wrote one example in the Jsonline news story stating, "The failure of the Green Bay Packers' defense this season lay at the feet of the players, [GM] Ted Thompson, [Head Coach] Mike McCarthy, and his staff of defensive coaches." As another example with a similar story focusing upon the defense, Rob Reischel wrote about the defensive deficiencies. At Packersnews.com, columnist Mike Vandermouse stated the similar news story, "Anemic Pass Rush Falls On Thompson."
Fans get the picture knowing the Packers news talk is about the offseason including team and individual grades, NFL Pro Bowl game, Super Bowl XLVI Giants win, NFL Draft, free agency among players, coaching changes, personnel move, and so on.
Meanwhile, jclombardi's 2012 NFL season Packers team grades will be posted with their comparison to other sports sources (yearly ritual along with game reviews). We shall see the comparative team grades to our Packers grades after the playoff loss to the Giants with ending commentary about future offseason moves to correct Packers overdue defensive personnel needs and coaching changes.
