Legendary senior writer, Packers lead blogger & NFC North columnist jclombardi looks at the Packers potential number 2 playoff NFC position.

While we put together the Packers vs Lions game review, we noticed some interesting news. Chicago Bears Urlacher  has a significant hamstring injury and may be gone for the season.  The Packers running back Starks (knee injury) may be gone for the season. As we warned fans, these bottom dwelling competitors will cause damage to try to stop your deep run into the playoffs. Of course, Tuesday, the NFL did nothing about Detroit Lions defensive tackle Suh who appears to have impunity for out-of-control field behaviors. Finally, of course, the Redskins beat the Giants blue machine.  Lol.

Meanwhile, even with the Seattle Screw and Colts choke games, the Packers can finish with a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs. With this coming weekend Sunday night Packers vs Lions game, the Packers are only 1/2 game behind San Francisco for the No. 2 seed. They have four games left against Detroit, at Chicago, Tennessee, and at Minnesota. The December 16th game at Chicago may decide the NFC North crown. The prize is theirs for the taking with the Packers controlling their fate. If the Packers win these games and the 49ers lose at the New England Patriots, they got a strong chance at the number two NFC playoff position and the NFC North 1st place bye.
