Tonight, at its NFL awards ceremony, Associated Press made it official. With nearly 48 of 50 votes, AP choose Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to be the NFL MVP for the 2011 season. In 2011 NFL season, Rodgers had his greatest year leading the NFL with a 122.5 passer rating rating with 45 touchdown passes, only six interceptions and a 68.3 completion percentage. The Packers won the NFC North with a 15-1 record winning the NFL NFC North title. Rodgers is the first Packers player to get the honor, of course, since retired legend Packers QB Brett Favre got three straight MVPs. He joined Packer legends including Bart Starr, Jim Taylor and Paul Hornung who received the award.
Meanwhile, New Orleans quarterback Brees got the consolidation prize with the Offensive Player of the Year award. Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs won the Defensive Player of the Year award. Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh won the Coach of the Year award. Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford won the Comeback Player of the Year award.
Finally, Packers rookie wide receiver and kick returner sensation Randall Cobb won 2011 Play of theYear award.
